Trip started in a hurricane, but somehow not just the hurricane, but two whole weeks slipped by and the impossible was ticked off our to do list: We had walked up to the mist cloaked summit of Ben Nevis, hopped across bogs to the windy Rau Reidh Lighthouse, clambered up to glacial lakes, dipped our toes in the ocean, warmed our bellies with Cullen Skink, clambered up many hills, seen more rainbows than we could tolerate, walked through the never ending beauty of the Isle of Skye, seen lush fairytale green hills sitting high in the clouds and smiled all the way.Big love to Walkabout Scotland and all my fellow impossible adventurers who know what it is to climb a mountain in a hurricane and live to tell the tale. http://flamingorover.blogspot.com/

The day before our trip began we saw the headline in Edinburgh "HURRICANE KATIA TO HIT SCOTLAND TOMORROW" It didn't bode well for the start but we endured and even enjoyed the deluge as we saw a side of Scotland that not many see. Climbing the Cobbler in 50mph winds and torrential rain was certainly an experience that we will remember. Ben Nevis was long and hard but the view on the way down in the afternoon light was fantastic. Skye was fantastic - having a pint in the evening light looking over Dun Tulm Castle was so very peaceful. A big thanks to Peter and Jon for making the trip so enjoyable, your knowledge helped us understand how wonderful Scotland is. I am looking at our photo's from my desk at work and wishing I was back there with a mountain pass in front of me instead of a PC. Howards video says it all. A great bunch of people having a great time on a fantastic walk. Highly recommended. Do yourself a favour and do a Big Highland Tour.
